The Group
The Canberra Monaro N Scale Group is a non-profit group promoting N scale model railways in the Australian Capital Territory and the local surrounding region of New South Wales. It was formed in October 1997 after the National N Scale Convention was held in Canberra in April of that year. The group's main aim is to promote and participate in N scale railway modelling. Members operate various N scale rail prototypes including Australian, British, American, Canadian and European. Meetings
The N Scale Group meetings are currently held monthly at various members' residences and mostly take place on the second Tuesday of each month. Meetings include updates on newly produced N scale models, books, magazines and newsletters, and information on how to proceed on N scale railway modelling aspects such as, maintenance of rolling stock, scenery landscape and buildings, electronics for operation, and layout construction using a modular system. Library
CMNSG has a library of books, magazines, catalogues, plans and drawings on a range of prototype and modelling subjects for the use of members. The collection includes magazines and newsletters from other N scale organisations. Activities
CMNSG operates Austrak modular layouts at exhibitions. Layouts are made up of some group modules and members' units which form part of their home layouts. Workshops are held at weekends, usually every two months, for construction and maintenance of layout modules. An annual Master Class is held with specially invited presenters to conduct clinics to help develop skills such as kit building, painting and applying decals. |
